The following is a sharing written by Alexandra who is also a member of our group.
At first, I didn't want to go to Tung Chung last night as I have so many errands to run before flying out, and I haven't finished my work but the deadline is on Monday. Due to my personal commitment on this ministry, I dragged myself over to Tung Chung to meet with some strangers. But God is always good and he did want me to see and learn more about the reality of HK.
Last time, when I did home visit in HK, it was almost 9 years ago. Since then I haven't really cared about the disadvantaged people from local community. I was surprised by how enthusiastic, approachable and friendly the teenagers were. These teenagers may be considered as less desirable by the society as they smoke, they probably swear, they study in band 5 school, and coming from poor families. In fact, when God's love touches their hearts, they are as adorable as any other teenagers. They are equal and valuable in front of God's eyes. All they need is someone to talk to and genuinely care about them.
Last night, I learnt so much about the Tung Chung situation by talking to the teenagers, and the guy we met at the bus stop. I have been quite aloof and indifferent to the local community, and realized that so many disadvantaged people are struggling day after day, overlooked by the society.
After making the first visit, we should seriously think about the action plan how to reach them and enrich their lives thru our Actsbond ministry. Equally important, pray for the community, and remember that God is in control and he is the almighty God that provides and blesses.
Lastly, although C sir have extreme view of the church, pls remember that we worship the Lord and he can empower us and use us to glorify his kingdom, to bless his children. There is nothing wrong to evangelize, and just spread the gospel even though the church is not doing your way. Remember, whatever way it is, as long as it is God's Way, God will be pleased.
